Bannu: MTI Bannu Launches “Theme 2027” for Healthcare Improvement in Hospitals

Bannu: The Board of Governors of MTI Bannu has officially launched “Theme 2027” aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services and institutional development. The theme encompasses short-term and long-term development plans for Bannu Medical College and all three hospitals under MTI Bannu, with the goal of delivering modern and effective medical facilities aligned with international standards.

Chairman of the Board of Governors, MTI Bannu, Professor Dr. Saeedullah Shah, while briefing media representatives during his visit to Bannu, stated that the Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital, and Women & Children Hospital are not only serving the population of Bannu but also patients from neighboring districts and even Afghanistan. He said that several revolutionary steps have been taken in a short time which have already resulted in significant improvements in hospital services.

He further added that before launching Theme 2027, a comprehensive audit—economic, clinical, and institutional—was conducted in all three hospitals and Bannu Medical College. This was done to identify gaps and improve services to meet global standards. Based on this audit, short-term and long-term projects have been designed and are currently underway. By 2027, these initiatives are expected to bring a major transformation in the healthcare landscape of the region.

On this occasion, Hospital Director Dr. Ahmad Faraz and Medical Director Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal were also present and gave detailed briefings on the ongoing developments in their respective departments.

Chairman Dr. Saeedullah Shah emphasized that emergency services remain their top priority. Significant reforms have been implemented in the emergency departments of all three hospitals, including the recruitment of specialized doctors, nurses, and relevant staff to fill previous shortages. A dedicated pediatric emergency department has been established at Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital. Similarly, construction of a trauma center has begun at DHQ Hospital using MTI Bannu’s own funds, while a Cardio-Metabolic Center has also been set up and is now functional.

He highlighted that several major initiatives are part of Theme 2027, including the establishment of Cath Labs in the teaching hospitals, a comprehensive rehabilitation center, College of Nursing, Institute of Medical Technology, MRI and CT Scan facilities, solarization of all three hospitals, and other major projects. Completion of these initiatives will not only enhance hospital services but also restore public confidence in the healthcare system.

The Chairman also mentioned that in the past, millions of rupees were wasted in unnecessary expenditures. However, under the current administration’s prudent decisions and strict oversight, nearly one crore rupees are now being saved every month despite financial constraints. He added that they are in continuous contact with the provincial government to address funding challenges.
